NSEL uses both traditional and non-contact sensing methods, such as 2D and 3D digital image correlation (DIC), 3D coordinate measuring machine (CMM), and infrared/point cloud imaging.
Traditional instruments include a wide array of strain gauges, linear variable displacement transducers (LVDT), linear velocity transducers (LVT), magnetorestrictive level transmitters (MLT), linear potentiometers, string potentiometers, accelerometers, thermocouples, load cells, pressure transducers, proven rings, and more.
Different data acquisition systems are used, including compact data loggers (cDAQ and cRIO) with interchangeable modules from National Instruments (NI) and also analogue data loggers.
Shown above is the Krypton CMM system and DIC using VIC-2D.
