Engineering Open House 2009 - Unlocking Potential

Engineering Open House (EOH) is a two day annual event College of Engineering showcase. On March 13 and 14, 2009, about 20,000 people visited the engineering campus for demstrations, contests and exhibits. At Newmark Civil Engineering Laboratory this year, Transportation students helped visitors make and test their own asphalt mixtures made from fun ingredients. The student chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers sponsored a Balsa Wood Bridge competition. The Boneyard Yacht Club displayed their Concrete Canoe and the Department of Military Science came out to talk about how military engineers use their expertise to work on projects like building infrastructure in Iraq and Afghanistan to flood control in the United States. The Arab American Association of Engineers and Architects were there as well, talking about the history of Arab Engineers and Inventions. The Railroad group demonstrated traffic control and maintenance on a railroad, and they brought their locomotive simulator.
